Creating Tournaments

- Log in your account, click on Create Tournament on the user menu to the left to get started.

- A form will appear to customize the basic setup of your tournament.

- Input a title (or name) for your tourney. A suggestion is that you put some key information about the tournament, i.e: "2006 NBA Men's Basketball Playoff". This way visitors will have keywords they can search for if they did not have the URL or Tourney ID (TID) to a tournament bracket.

- Select a type of tournament.
Elimination (Regular) - In this type, numbers of team supported are 2th power only, for example: 2,4,8,16,32... Each round, half of remaining teams will be eliminated and the other half go to next round and play each other.
Swiss (Regular) - Swiss supports any number of teams beyond two; in each round, teams with the same number of wins will play each other so there is guaranteed winner in the end. Teams will not be eliminated and get to play all the games throughout the tournament. When there's an odd number of teams, one random team (with least wins) will get a bye (no opponent, free win) in each round. A single team will not get more than one bye in a tournament.

- Input a description of the tournament. The description should be detailed but brief at the same time. It will appear directly under the title on the public page, above the bracket. HTML is restricted in the description, you may only use the following tags: <font><u><i><b><a><s><br><img><hr>.

- When you input the number of player, remember the number must be 2th-power if you've selected Elimiation.
- Also keep in mind you will not be able to change the number of teams after you've created the tournament.

- The Random match pairing checkbox will only apply to Elimination type tournaments. If you check the box, teams will be randomized in the first round of the tournament and match setup ups will go from there. If you leave the box unchecked, you will be able to pair up teams for round 1 matches of the tournament. This feature will be explained more clearly in Creating Teams section of this tutorial.

- Click the "Create Tournament" button on the form to finish creating the tourney.

Managing Tournaments

- To get to your tournaments, log in and click Manage Tournaments on the left user menu and it will display all the tournaments you have created. By default, 30 tourneys are displayed on one page.

- When displaying the list of all tournaments, there are four columns. One of the column is the TID (Tournament ID), this unique number is very important in identifying a tournment. If you would like your players/fans to access a tournament faster, supply them with the TID and they can enter the number on the front page or search page to go straight to the tournament bracket.

- On the far right of display column is the Current Round info. For example <3/4> means the current round is 3 and the maximum possible round in the tournament is 4. If the font color of Current Round numbers is red then it means that tournament has ended. It is possible for a Swiss-type tournament to end before reaching the maximum round number.

- Links leading to any of your tournament will automatically direct you to the page associated with the stage of the tournament, for example if your tournament is not finished creating teams, then it will goto the Manage Teams page.

- You can also quickly get to your most recent tournaments immediately after login, on the user Home page, 5 most recent tournaments you've created will be listed there.

Creating Teams

- Get to your tournament by going through Manage Tournaments on the menu and you'll be automatically directed to Team Manager page if the tournament have not been started.

- Until you have entered all the teams, the option to start the tournament will not appear. When you have entered all teams, this button will appear:

- You can use the Save button to store the team list and come back later to edit.

- If you have entered all teams but made changes to any team, make sure you press Save again before starting the tournament.

- Entering teams for Swiss type and Elimination Random-pairing type is the same. You can enter the teams in any order since match pairing will be randomized anyways.

- Entering teams for Elimiation non-Random-pairing is a little different. Entry boxes will be displayed in pairs, so you can decide who plays who in the first round of the tournament. The top half of the entry boxes represents the left extreme of a elimiation tournament bracket and the bottom half of team entry is the right extreme of the bracket. see figure:

- Please try to restrict the length of team names to 15 characters and under. It will make brackets look better. In Elimination tournaments, team names with more than 15 characters will be truncated on the bracket.
